Invocation of My Demon Brother

Mick Jagger's "Invocation of My Demon Brother"

In 1967, the footage for Anger's Lucifer Rising was allegedly stolen by Bobby Beausoleil, who was later convicted for his participation in the Manson murders. Beausoleil denies stealing the footage to this day, but is rumored to have buried the negatives in the desert of an old Manson haunt. Anger befriended Mick Jagger while living in London and asked him to record the soundtrack for Invocation of My Demon Brother,a mind-bending collage of sonic terror and subversion and fast paced ritual ambiance which found the union of the circle and the swastika, a swirling power source of solar energy.. Jagger went into Abbey Road Studio and recorded the Stones hit "Beast of Burden." Anger was disappointed with the outcome. Anger arranged for Jagger and Keith Richards to hold a vigil in the name of The Order of the Trapezoid, better known as The Church of Satan. The three sat in a circle chanting excerpts of Anton Szandor LaVey's The Satanic Bible over the 2 inch magnetic tape recording of "Beast of Burden" After four hours according to Richards, "we entered a state of euphoria, we began screaming at each other. Mick kept on puking all over us. Anger was irrate and pulled a sixteen inch blade out of his pants and cut the shit out of us." As legend goes the magnetic tape recording was doused in blood and vomit, the tape was thought to be ruined. Two days later Anger cleaned the tape and played it to the rough cut of Invocation of My Demon Brother. He loved it and used it in the film without Jagger's permission.
